I wanted to include this video which I found during my research. It is an encouragement to see that a teacher's time and dedication to her students (of today's technological society) can accomplish and achieve these results.

Closing thoughts after completing EDUC 5203
I have completed an excellent course where I was able to explore technology in education. I chose to focus my research on handheld devices and assessment. As a teacher assessment was always something that caused a challenge, due to time constraints, completing outcomes and reflection on learning. I have learned through my studies that the iPad is a very useful tool to organize lessons and assessments of those lessons. I have explored various apps such as Evernote and penultimate to name a few and these have opened my eyes to a new world of teaching. My hope is to share this new found knowledge with colleagues in the Fall and grow together my incorporating this or other technologies in the classroom.
Website
I am proud to say I have created an educational website.
Here is the link:
https://sites.google.com/site/carichardson19/home
Included in this website are assignments, helpful teacher links and my research on assessment using technology. My focus was on the iPad and various apps that helped organize the teacher to better assess her student's progress.

Apps and assessment

The picture is quite large put it is a snapshot of an app
that teachers could use in the classroom to assess
their student's responses to various questions and
keep track of the progress that is occurring in the classroom.

Initial Module 1 Reflections
Reading articles and browsing websites. (Thursday March 28th)
As I read through articles and browse websites on my ipad with my son playing on the floor in front of me I think about how he will read and study in school. Will he be completing his work on iPads and laptops and reading stories on digital devices instead of using paper, pencils and real books? (Monday April 1st)
People are still collaborating while using technology
We still research....we are just increasing the amounts of data that needs to be sifted
Problem solving is actually problem solving
Why are there still standardized tests ...mind you the CAT has been eliminated from our Board, was it because of funding our the changing times?
Is using a computer for typing a report or emailing a penpal enough?
Or using the LCD projector?
As teachers we become so preoccupied with meeting or covering outcomes, there are so many more skills that are necessary.
E.g. Global awareness and collaboration skills
It's shouldn't be what they need to learn but how to learn.
Separate assessments...defeats the purpose of 21st learning....needs to be integrated.
We want students to be engaged and learn by doing.
Digital citizenship- I wonder if this hasn't been taught or implemented properly ....that it is a possible cause to the increase in cyber bullying??
Digital literacies are more about to learn then what to learn.
The ever changing characteristics of new technological literacies I believe is evident of an ever changing population of learners.
Troubleshooting - this is so true, teachers don't want anything to go wrong and give up control . Students need this opportunity to become better problem solvers.
Students do need to become risk takers. Teachers do need to shift psychologically and culturally and not just shift their pedagogy or curricular assessments.
Teachers should be presenting their students with real life activities.
We need to change our thinking ( reconceptualize) in order to move forward to a 21st century way of teaching.
(Monday April 1st)
In reading through many websites and articles my thoughts as to what the focus would be for my assignment and research has changed each time I see a new piece of information.
I first was looking at technology for literacy with a focus on interactive books, possibly using the iPad and now I think my focus has shifted to assessment. (Sunday April 7th)
I am going to explore the use of technology in assessing specifically using the iPad. I want to look at how teachers use this tool as well as students when they are being assessed as well as when they self-assess. (Sunday April 7th)
